PIXI BY PETRA | a brand review

pixi product review 3

Hey friends! So I’ve been wanting to try a new type of series on my blog where I focus on trying a bunch of products from a brand I have never tried before. When this idea came to my mind, I immediately knew that I wanted to try PIXI, a brand you can find in Target. PIXI is a natural and gentle skincare and cosmetic line that does not test on any animals. And with that being said, let’s jump right into the review.

First off, I will say that it was extremely hard for me to pick which products to purchase. Standing at the display, I was mesmerized by the variety of products in the line. Everything seemed absolutely lovely and I wanted to throw it all in the cart. I will also say the price played a huge part in not purchasing everything, as Petra’s brand is a bit more pricier than other drugstore brands in the area. But don’t let that stop you, her brand is actually very unique and wonderful.

As far as the skin care goes, I am definitely a huge fan so far. The Glow Mud cleanser is refreshing and gentle, and glides of the skin without leaving my face feeling stiff and dry. The Glow Tonic is definitely one of my favorite products, and a must-have. I am definitely going to be repurchasing when it runs out. I apply this after the cleanser with a cotton pad and it leaves my face feeling absolutely soft. It’s both a toner and a a chemical exfoliate, so it very gently removes any dead skin and helps with any impurities. It smells absolutely fabulous too. After I use the toner, I love to spray the Glow Mist all over my face to give it a last step of hydration. It feels cool on my skin, leaving my face feeling super refreshed. I love this product, and love to spray it in the morning before my makeup, after my makeup as a setting spray, during the day for a little pick-me-up, or at night after my nightly skin care routine. As you can imagine, I’ve been flying through this stuff and am planning to repurchase as soon as it’s out.

A few times a week  I like to use the Glow Mud Mask. It’s a thick gray aloe vera & gingseng mud mask that is rich in minerals and helps clean pores, bring life back to my face, and leave it feeling extremely soft and bright. The tube says to use for fifteen minutes, but I’ve always left it on for longer!

I bet you’re curious results! well, I have found that my skin is extremely bright and hydrated. This skin routine has reduced the redness on my face (which, I will say, was pretty bad). It has left my skin looking super bright and glowy. I now have absolutely no problem walking around bare face anymore. It has also reduced the sight of pores and texture throughout my face. I overall just feel more hydrated and radiant. It’s amazing. I have found that no matter what skin care products I have, I keep reaching for this routine time and time again!

Okay, with skin care pushed aside, I only purchased two cosmetic products. The first is a  Multibalm in Soft Strawberry. Essentially , this is a cream lip and cheek stick. It is extremely pigmented and vibrant, however I found that it was pretty difficult to work with. I tried using it multiple ways: applying it directly to my cheeks, blending with a brush, blending with a Real Techniques sponge, applying with my fingers on to the skin, blending with my fingers, and no matter what it just didn’t seem to work for me. When I applied it directly on my cheeks, it stuck to my face in the line I appled straight line and was difficult to diffuse and blend out into a natural flush. It stayed just a stripe of red on my face. And with a beauty blender, it just completely blended away into nothing, leaving no tint on my face. With that being said, I used this just a quick little lip stain for when I was doing a simple makeup look and just wanted a little tint to brighten up my face.

The second lip product I purchased was their Mattelustre Lipstick in Honey Bare. I absolutely loved this product. When I first tried it on, I was slightly disappointed at the fact that it wasn’t super pigmented and matte like I had expected. But once I saw how the color looks when you build it up, I knew it was going to be a go-to for every day use. It’s very light weight and moisturizing, and feels almost like a balm. But it leaves a semi-matte- semi-shine look on your lips. For me, its a “my lips but better” sort of shade, and I have been taking it with my everywhere. It’s definitely a lipstick without the fuss. You can apply it without a mirror, it’s great for a work day, and just feels so lovely on my lips. It doesn’t have a huge long lasting wear, but I wasn’t disappointed for how long it stayed on for. I’m definitely going to be purchasing some more shades when I go to Target next!

  1. I love the pixi tinted lip balms! I have one in a mauve color and it’s my favorite thing in the world. It’s super pigmented but also very hydrating and smells like vanilla. I’ve been wanting to try the pixi glow tonic! but i just ordered the paula’s choice bha so don’t think i should be buying any more exfoliators D:

    1. I’m going to have to give the lip balms a try then! And ooh, I have never heard of Paula’s Choice before… I’ll have to look into it! I’ve been obsessed with trying new skin care recently, haha. It’s a problem.

    1. Definitely give it a go and tell me what you think! It’s really nice. It’s thick and applies really well to the face. I usually put on a thick layer. It dries pretty quickly and just does so much wonder to my face. I noticed a difference the day after the first use! 🙂

    1. The skin care is surprisingly good! I have always passed it and wanted to try it, but I never really heard anyone review anything by it so I figured it just wasn’t a really good brand. But damn it, I was totally wrong. The glow tonic is probably my fav purchase so far, that and the glow mist!

  2. I love Pixi products. I used to have a pixi lip palette that had the most beautiful berry colour, quite subtle, but you could build it up. I haven’t found anything as good since. I’ve just found your blog and I’m really enjoying it.

    1. Thanks so much for taking a look at my blog, I’m glad you enjoy! 🙂 My love for PIXI products have grown even more since I wrote this post, honestly. Especially their skincare line. I’ve found some amazing products that I keep in my daily routine now. That lip palette sounds amazing! Do they still sell it? I’d love to give it a go!
