When I was younger, I had always wanted glasses. So much so, that I would get so frustrated every year when I would go to get my eye exam and realize that my eyes were perfect. It wasn’t until I hit around 17 years old that I started noticing my vision was growing rapidly worse…. And for the first time in my entire life I hated the idea of getting glasses. But that’s how it works, right? You always want what you can’t have and then you get it and… you suddenly wish you didn’t. But I quickly learned to get used to wearing frames, and have gone through my fair share of frame shapes to find my favorite pair. And honestly, these pair… They’re my favorite.
It’s so easy to chuck on a pair of glasses and instantly feel that much more put together without makeup. I would say more than half of the week I am guilty of rocking that look. But for the rest of the week, I like to slap on some glitter & spice and make everything a look a bit more nice.
When you wear glasses, it’s one of the first features a person notices about you. Whether you like it or not, it’s the main focal point of your face. So I really love to play with my eye make up to make things more interesting. I love going for a smokey look with golds & browns, or even rustic purple shades with rose gold. Dramatize the look with a cat flick eyeliner, or add some a smokey touch and smudge it out along your lash line, throw a bit of mascara on, and you are honestly good to go.
Since the eyes are the main focus, I like to keep my lip shades more neutral. My favorite shades to use with these looks are mauve-y pink or a more sheer lipstick with a slight pop of pigment. It’s always great to have some staple shades that you can throw on without a mirror, pop in your bag on the go, and take the fuss out of the glam. And that’s what I’m all about, really. Non-fussy glam.
No matter what look I’m doing, I find it really important to start with a nice vibrant base. I like to choose a foundation that won’t rub off from my glasses. And to ensure that, I like to take a damp beauty blender and some translucent powder and set the sides of my nose, where the glasses tough my skin the most.
I also like to use Hourglass’ Ambient Light Powder for that extra special look. It always ensures that my skin looks bright, awake, and flawless. I swear by this powder, you guys. It’s a must-have if you feel like your skin is dessert-like (don’t feel bad, I know the struggle).
I like to finish my look off by adding a little pop of life by adding a nice soft blush to compliment my eyes and lip shades, but also to add some highlighter on the tops of my cheekbones. When people are admiring your awesome frames, they will simultaneously be dazzled by your lovely glowing complexion. It also helps make the whole look that much more cohesive, especially when you have bigger frames that tend to drown our your facial features and cheekbones.
Another quick tip is to make sure you set it all with a good setting spray, to ensure it won’t slide straight off your face in a puddle. That’s never a nice feeling. I love to use Makeup Forever’s Mist & Fix, but I also hear Urban Decay has great ones (although, I’ve never personally tried. But if you have, let me know what your thoughts are!
Do you have any special things you do when you’re wearing makeup & glasses? I would love some new technique or product ideas! Let me know in the comments!

Love these tips—especially the one for setting the sides of your nose. I wear readers all day while at work, so I’ll definitely be trying that one!

Definitely give it a go! I like to ‘bake’ the side of my nose with translucent powder and then spray setting spray there to make it last as long as possible!
