DRESSING UP YOUR DESK AREA | stationary roundup

Whether you’re a blogger, a student, or a full-time office personnel, you deal with stationary on the daily. Myself included. And lately, I’ve been really into the idea of updating both my work and home desk area to liven up my spirits. After tons of aimless scrolling, I’ve managed to find some pretty little bits that look just as beautiful as they are practical. Here are some of my favorite picks, and how I tidy up & create my desk space!

01. 02. 03. 04. 05.

01. when in doubt, clear it out

I really hate the feeling of a messy desk. I have no idea why, but if my space is cluttered I can’t think properly. And if you feel my struggle, than the best thing to do (unfortunately) is to just have a massive clear out. Go through everything and throw away the unnecessary items, store away things you don’t use on a daily, and rearrange your space into a way that you feel comfortable and productive. It’ll be a tad time consuming, but in the end it will help get your creative mind flowing free from any distractions.

02. start with the necessities

I always begin my desk updates with finding new and practical pieces that are going to help get me organized and happy. Whether it be adorable leather folders, file cabinets, or pencil holders for on the go, it’s always a good idea to find items with practical use. Even though the temptation to buy all the cute washi tape in the world is difficult to surpass, in the end you will feel so much better when your desk is tidy.

03. tools for action

Every so often I have to restock pens because somehow mine disappear from the face of the earth. And when I do, I try to pick up adorably unique items that make me happy to use and look at. I don’t know what it is about using a pastel pen or an all gold stapler, but for some reason it just works. If your space is feeling a bit bare, try buying some colorful everyday office items to display in unique ways.

04. be extra

I’m compeletely guilty of buying cute & pointless stationary that serves little no purpose. The $1-$3 section at target is my life. I can’t say no to it. And each time, I’ll come home with something that I won’t ever use. Recently, I picked up little mini cacti erasers. So naturally, when I stumbled upon cute cacti washi tape I jumped all over that honey. Yup. That’s mine now. If you’re like me, I’d suggest keep the reckless shopping to a minimum & the last stages of your desk update. Believe me, if you begin $75 deep in washi tape and heart shaped paper clips, you’re gonna regret it. Been there, done that.

    1. Definitely take the time to do that before classes! You’ll feel so much better, I promise. Plus I find that if I customize the space to my liking, I’m more inclined to spend time blogging/being productive!
